In the Marketingmanager system, a workspace is the totality of all known information, files and rules accessed by the system – regardless of storage type, location and form. A workspace is self-contained and represents the world known to the Marketingmanager.
All system start-up information is stored in a workspace or project file “project.xml”. By loading different workspace files, the workspace can be changed accordingly.
The Marketingmanager starts with the last used workspace. If no workspace is available yet, the creation of a new workspace is offered. The Marketingmanager then creates a workspace folder including a project.xml file and creates the database according to the name and database system.

The workspace describes the internal data structure and the functionalities of all subareas based on it, such as data import, data processing and data export. This basic set-up belongs to the administrative activities and is part of the system implementation.
Within the framework of the basic set-up, information of any origin is linked manually or via sets of rules. This breaks through the given, rigid structures of imported tables or folder hierarchies. The result is a network of relations. Via this network of relations, all linked information can then be reached from any starting point – completely independent of where it was originally taken from.
Views are predefined data views that are directly integrated into the user interface and structure the product information. They work directly on the network of relations and can – if desired – be changed or supplemented directly by the users.

Rights are distributed via the integrated user administration, in which user groups can be created and assigned corresponding rights.
On a technical level, it is advisable to distinguish at least two groups:
- The administrator, who can edit everything.
- The user, who can use but not change data.
In addition, any number of groups with defined rights can be created for individual tasks.
